What to bring

What to bring:

Suggested clothing:

Think for yourself, you will be attending lecturers (clean) and doing field work (dirty.  Safari colours for field work. Long and short pants and shirts, T shirts for layering and a warm jacket. Hat, sunglasses and working gloves. Appropriate footwear for field and class attendance. Some of the fieldwork will be in Foot and Mouth Disease areas and boots will be disinfected afterwards. In the past, some students went for an early morning jog, if you're a runner, bring the gear. Bring your personal items (eg Toiletries, alarm clock, Bug repellent, sunscreen, camera)  It is our experience that students bring way too much. We now keep overalls and over boots for post mortems, so you do not need to bring this. Laundry facilities to be used mid course, i.e. after 7 days, so plan accordingly.

Bring a converter if you have electrical supplies (USA=110 Volts, South Africa = 220 Volts)
Gum and Candy - now voted therapeutic during long lectures.

Weather:

May to August is winter in South Africa with temperatures varying from -2 Celsius at night to 25 Celsius midday. Dressing in layers help to accommodate this range.
